Quality Improvement integrated Kangaroo Mother Care

Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) for low birthweight infants has been shown to significantly reduce neonatal mortality and improve long-term outcomes, especially in low- and lower-middle-income countries. However, despite strong evidence and well-designed educational programs, global adoption of KMC remains inconsistent. Successful dissemination and implementation of effective healthcare practices require more than solid scientific evidence and training — they demand the strategic application of implementation science. The Quality Improvement–integrated Kangaroo Mother Care (QIiKMC) initiative brings together clinical education and quality improvement training within a single comprehensive program. Through a partnership between the Canadian Neonatal Foundation and the International Pediatric Association, QIiKMC materials are now freely accessible to all. By registering on our website, users can download the full suite of QIiKMC resources for unrestricted use by their healthcare teams and trainees.
