EPIQ (Global Health in Low Resource Settings)

The Evidence-based Practice for Improving Quality (EPIQ) program is a comprehensive approach designed to support healthcare teams in working together toward shared quality improvement goals. Central to this initiative is the EPIQ 10 Steps training, which equips healthcare professionals, patients, families, administrators, and other stakeholders with practical skills to enhance care quality. Successfully spreading and adopting effective healthcare practices requires more than solid research and education—it demands a strategic use of implementation science. Whether delivered online or in person, EPIQ training bridges this gap, empowering healthcare teams with the tools they need to apply evidence-based improvements effectively. To support global health equity, the Canadian Neonatal Foundation, in collaboration with the International Pediatric Association, offers EPIQ training materials free of charge to all individuals and organizations committed to improving healthcare quality worldwide. Anyone interested in contributing to Global EPIQ initiatives, regardless of geographic location, can register on the website to freely access and use the materials for training and implementation purposes.

Quality Improvement integrated Kangaroo Mother Care

Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) for low birthweight infants has been shown to significantly reduce neonatal mortality and improve long-term outcomes, especially in low- and lower-middle-income countries. However, despite strong evidence and well-designed educational programs, global adoption of KMC remains inconsistent. Successful dissemination and implementation of effective healthcare practices require more than solid scientific evidence and training — they demand the strategic application of implementation science. The Quality Improvement–integrated Kangaroo Mother Care (QIiKMC) initiative brings together clinical education and quality improvement training within a single comprehensive program. Through a partnership between the Canadian Neonatal Foundation and the International Pediatric Association, QIiKMC materials are now freely accessible to all. By registering on our website, users can download the full suite of QIiKMC resources for unrestricted use by their healthcare teams and trainees.
