Expiry Notice for Legacy Bulk Licenses – March 1, 2026
Important Update: October 30th, 2025
As a follow-up to our recent pricing update (effective May 1, 2025), we would like to inform all organizations about an important deadline concerning bulk licenses purchased under our previous administrative structure.
Background
The administration of the EPIQ Education Program officially transitioned from the University of Alberta (UoA) to the Canadian Neonatal Foundation (CNF) on March 18, 2024. The updated pricing model, which took effect May 1, 2025, was introduced under CNF's leadership as part of a broader effort to support the sustainability and growth of the program.
Important Deadline: March 1, 2026
All bulk licenses purchased under the University of Alberta administration (i.e., prior to March 18, 2024) must be before March 1, 2026.
After this date, any unused licenses from that period will expire and cannot be carried forward or applied under the new CNF-led system.
Why This Deadline Is Necessary
This decision is based on several key considerations:
- Administrative Accountability: With the shift from UoA to CNF, it is important to reconcile all remaining licenses issued under the previous administration to maintain transparency and consistency across our records.
- Financial Integrity: The new pricing structure reflects current operational costs, including platform maintenance, program development, and accreditation. Allowing indefinite use of legacy licenses would compromise our cost recovery model and effect services including program dissemination.
- Program Sustainability and Equity: Closing the window on legacy licenses ensures fairness across organizations and participants and allows us to better forecast, plan, and deliver consistent program quality.
Next Steps for Affected Organizations
