EPIQ is a process that helps teams improve the quality of care that they provide. The EPIQ process facilitates local and national QI using five principles:

  • Benchmarking with a standardized database

  • Collaboration between facilities and teams

  • Best practice consensus from best available evidence

  • Training of front-line teams in QI methods

  • Sharing of successes and failures through networking

About EPIQ Training Workshop

The Evidence-based Practice for Improving Quality (EPIQ) workshop, developed by the Maternal Infant Care (MiCare) team through years of collaboration, implementation, and data-sharing among tertiary neonatal intensive care units across Canada, offers expert training in quality improvement methodologies. Aimed at frontline healthcare providers and clients, the workshop utilizes a "learning by sharing" approach, ensuring that its content is accessible to individuals from varied educational backgrounds and applicable across multiple disciplines. Participation in EPIQ provides attendees with valuable professional development while supporting the ongoing enhancement of quality care practices.

Accreditation

The EPIQ workshop is accredited by MOC Section 3 Simulation Activity as defined by the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and approved by the University of Calgary Office of Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development.
