Who Should Attend?

This workshop is designed for physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals who are committed to improving the quality of newborn care, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Ideal for healthcare professionals who want to understand the Global EPIQ approach and prepare to facilitate Global EPIQ learning programs—either as a standalone program or integrated with other newborn care education—this workshop provides the foundation to become an effective facilitator. Through an engaging virtual learning experience, participants will explore Global EPIQ, a dynamic quality improvement (QI) program that uses a practical, hands-on, small-group, and flipchart-based approach to strengthen newborn care practices and improve outcomes in resource-limited settings.

Why Attend?

Global EPIQ teaches the simple EPIQ 10 steps using flipchart-based training tools with a focus on group learning and quality improvement. The learning format has been modified for use in low-resources settings to be similar to and is often included with the WHO Essential Newborn Care 1 & 2: www.hmbs.org as well as Quality Improvement integrated Kangaroo Mother Care (QIiKMC): www.cnf-fnc.ca. Global EPIQ has already been successfully implemented in countries like Uganda, India, Tanzania, and Sierra Leone. This workshop offers an in-depth look at how Global EPIQ can be used to improve newborn health worldwide.

What You Will Learn:

  • The key concepts of Global EPIQ and its application in low-resources settings

  • How to facilitate group learning using flipchart format

  • Integration of Quality Improvement tools to improve care

  • Opportunities for global impact and involvement in future learning programs
